Goodman AC repair in Las Vegas typically runs $150 to $650 depending on what failed, and most jobs are diagnosed and fixed same-day when parts are available locally. We’re an independent Goodman service provider – not authorized by or affiliated with the manufacturer – and we work on every major Goodman line, from older GSC and SSZ units to current GSX, GSZ, and variable-speed Amana-branded systems built under the same parent company. If your Goodman is blowing warm air, short-cycling, or making a sound it has never made before, call (725) 502-1353. A live person answers, you’ll get a straight diagnosis, and every repair starts with a written price.

This page is for Las Vegas homeowners who own a Goodman or Amana system and want to know what broke, why it broke, and what the fix should actually cost before anyone sets foot in the house.
How Goodman Products Fail – and How We Fix Them
- Capacitor failure on GSX and GSC series condensers. The single most common Goodman failure we see in Las Vegas. Run capacitors sit inside a metal cabinet under full sun from May through September, often on the west or south side of a home in Summerlin or Henderson. The dielectric fluid inside degrades at 140°F-plus cabinet temperatures. Symptom: the outdoor fan hums but won’t spin, or the compressor clicks and drops out. We test microfarad readings, replace with an OEM-spec or higher-rated capacitor, and check the contactor at the same time since they usually wear together.
- Refrigerant leaks at the Schrader valve cores and braze joints on older SSZ and GSZ heat pumps. Goodman’s heat pump coils are generally solid, but the factory valve cores and field-made braze joints eventually seep. Symptom: the system cools but never quite reaches setpoint, and the copper line at the condenser is warm instead of sweating. We recover refrigerant, pressure-test with nitrogen, repair the actual leak point, then recharge by weight – not by guesswork. We never top off a system with a known leak and call it fixed.
- Condensate drain clogs in an attic or closet air handler, common on ARUF and AVPEC models. Las Vegas dust is fine and gritty. It mixes with condensate and forms a paste inside the drain pan and PVC trap. Symptom: water stains on the ceiling below the air handler, or the unit shuts down from a float switch trip. We clear the line, replace the trap if it’s cracked, and clean the pan. If the drain runs horizontal across an attic in Summerlin or Mountains Edge, we’ll check slope before we leave.
- Blower motor and control board stress from dirty condenser coils. Goodman units are built to a price point, and the main tradeoff is thinner coil fins and a slightly more exposed control board mount than some premium brands. When the condenser coil packs with dust and the system runs long cycles, the control board relay contacts burn and the ECM blower motor works against restriction until it overheats. We see this on GSX16 and GSX14 systems that have gone three or more years without a coil cleaning. Our fix is a deep coil wash, a board relay inspection, and a blower motor amp draw check before we call the unit healthy.
- Compressor hard-start stress on older single-stage units in peak heat. Las Vegas nights in July routinely stay above 90, so a Goodman compressor can cycle hard all night long. Units that never got a start capacitor or hard-start kit wear out the compressor windings faster. Symptom: the outdoor unit buzzes for two seconds and cuts out. On systems under warranty and still holding pressure, we’ll add the start assist Goodman recommends. On a compressor that’s grounded or open-winding, we’ll give you an honest repair-versus-replace number before anyone spends another dollar.

Our Goodman AC Repair Process
- 1
You call, a person answers. No phone tree, no voicemail. We ask what the unit is doing, what the thermostat reads, and what part of town you’re in. That’s when we set the arrival window and give you the tech’s name.
- 2
Your technician arrives, badge and photo match. Before every visit, you get the tech’s name and photo. At the door, they show photo ID under our Threshold Verified standard. If anyone else shows up, that visit is on us.
- 3
Diagnosis comes first, in plain terms. The tech checks electrical draw, refrigerant pressures, air temperature split, and condenser coil condition. Then they explain what failed, why, and what it costs in writing before any work starts.
- 4
Parts decision: OEM when it matters, quality aftermarket when it saves you money. For warranty-sensitive parts – compressor, coil, control board – we use Goodman factory parts, or the exact aftermarket equivalent if the OEM part is backordered. For wear items like capacitors and contactors, we carry proven brands that outlast factory spec.
- 5
The repair happens, then the system gets tested. We don’t leave on a “probably works.” We run the unit through a full cycle, measure the temperature drop at the supply and return, and check amp draw. If it’s not right, we rework it on the spot.
- 6
You get a written guarantee, and we shake on it. Every repair includes a written guarantee covering parts and labor. If the same repair fails within the guarantee period, we return at no charge. No argument, no invoice.

AfterWhat Goodman AC Repair Costs in Las Vegas
Most Goodman repairs in Las Vegas fall into three bands. Capacitor or contactor replacements run $150 to $300 parts and labor. Fan motor replacements run $250 to $450 depending on whether it’s the condenser fan or the blower inside the air handler. Refrigerant leak repair with a recharge runs $400 to $650 on common Goodman heat pump and straight-cool systems, assuming the leak is accessible and the system holds pressure after the fix. A compressor replacement can exceed the top of that range, and at that point we’ll tell you honestly whether the repair makes sense against the age of your system and how much longer you plan to be in the house.
What moves the price: whether the part is under Goodman factory warranty, whether the condenser or air handler is in a tight attic that takes an extra body or a crane, and whether the system has been leaking long enough to need more than a few pounds of refrigerant. You’ll always know the number before we turn a wrench. Call (725) 502-1353 and we’ll quote your exact repair over the phone or in person, free.
Why Las Vegas Homeowners Call Brandt HVAC Co Las Vegas for Goodman Work
We’re not a call center that dispatches whoever picks up the phone. We’re Devin Marlowe and a crew of techs who have been working Las Vegas rooftops, attics, and side yards for years – out in Summerlin where units bake against block walls, in Henderson where the dust blows east off the desert, and everywhere in between. We carry Goodman-specific parts on the truck because we know which units are in this market and what fails on them. Every repair includes a written guarantee. If it fails, we return free under the 365-Day Done Right Promise. We also service Carrier, Trane, and Lennox, so if your Goodman is beyond repair and you want to weigh your replacement options, we’ll give you a straight comparison without brand loyalty getting in the way.
And when Devin is not on a roof diagnosing a heat pump, he’s in the garage tinkering with an old window unit just to see if he can bring it back. Tell him what it’s doing, he’ll tell you what it needs – no guessing, no padding the invoice.
FAQs
No. As an independent Goodman service provider, our repairs won’t void your factory warranty as long as standard service procedures are followed and any warrantied replacement parts are factory-spec or Goodman-approved equivalents. What does void warranties is neglect – running the system with a failed capacitor or a clogged coil for months.
Most Las Vegas Goodman repair calls are same-day or next-day. In peak summer we prioritize no-cool calls because a failed AC in July in Las Vegas is a health risk, not an inconvenience. Call (725) 502-1353 and the live person who answers will tell you the first open window.
Yes. For compressor, coil, and control board replacements, we use genuine Goodman factory parts whenever they’re available. For wear items like capacitors, contactors, and fan motors, we carry proven aftermarket brands that often outlast the factory part. We’ll tell you which one makes sense for your repair and why.
If the repair is a $200 capacitor on a system that cools fine otherwise, repair it. If it’s a $1,500 compressor on a 14-year-old R-22 Goodman, replace it. It’s not a hard rule, it’s math. We’ll walk you through the repair cost, the system’s age, and what a new unit would cost in Las Vegas, and then you decide with real numbers in front of you.
We take no-cool calls seven days a week, and our phones are answered by a live person around the clock. If your Goodman is down in the Las Vegas summer and someone in the house is elderly, an infant, or has a medical condition, tell the dispatcher – we prioritize accordingly. Call (725) 502-1353 and one of us will be straight with you about how fast we can be there.
If your Goodman AC is acting up anywhere in the Las Vegas Valley, call (725) 502-1353 for a free estimate. We’ll put a name and a face on the person walking through your door, a written price in your hand before any work starts, and a guarantee that means something on every repair.
